This class blends mindfulness, neuroscience-informed parenting, and real-life strategies to help parents move from survival mode to empowered, grounded leadership. Participants learn how to regulate their own nervous systems, understand their child’s unique brain and sensory needs, and respond with clarity rather than overwhelm.
Together, we explore compassionate discipline, emotional regulation, communication tools, and self-advocacy—while honoring the strength it takes to parent outside the conventional mold. This is a space that celebrates neurodiversity, validates lived experiences, and builds a supportive community of parents who are learning to thrive, not just cope.
This class is for the warriors—parents who show up every day with love, courage, and the willingness to grow alongside their children.
Students are encouraged to have access to Teaching with the Brain in Mind (2nd Edition) by Eric Jensen. The book is available in paperback and Kindle formats. Affordable copies can often be found online, including on Amazon, and students may choose the format that best fits their preferences.
While the book supports and enriches the learning experience, class discussions and activities will also be designed so students can fully participate even if they are still in the process of obtaining the material.
Hi everyone, and welcome! My name is Amanda Carleton, and I’m so glad you’re here. I’m a parent of two incredible daughters, ages 8 and 10, both with special needs, and much of what I bring to this class comes from real, lived experience.
I’ve spent years navigating meltdowns, aggressive behaviors, and the emotional ups and downs that come with parenting neurodivergent children. I know how challenging—and isolating—it can feel. Through trial, reflection, and growth, I’ve discovered strategies that truly work for my family, and I’m excited to share those tools with you in hopes they support your journey as well.
In addition to my parenting experience, I’m an educator in a public school setting that serves a neurodivergent population. This allows me to blend practical, real-world parenting insight with neuroscience-informed and mindfulness-based approaches.
This class is a space for learning, connection, and compassion—for ourselves and our children. I’m honored to walk alongside you and truly excited to learn and grow together.
